March To Your Own Beat Woman!

"Being a victim to social stigma and gossip is part of life of a woman who has broken every rule in the patriarchal game of chess. All they expect of you is to be a willing pawn on the chessboard of life.As long as you allow yourself to be crossed, checkmated, everything's fine. You decide your moves yourself and they discard you like a broken pawn".

i wrote the above excerpt when i browsed www.indianwomenonline.com ten years ago!. i do not know if the website is still active but the extract seems to ring true even today.

The United Nations declared 8th March as International Women's Day and there has been a deluge of articles and write-ups in the local dailies on issues concerning women this past week.

The success stories are truly inspiring and gives motivation for women to move forward and excel in their chosen fields, to progress to greater heights and find a balance between work and home.

Nonetheless, the very reason of being female has brought about untold miseries, injustices and abuses of every kind all over the world. Sadly though, it is most often another woman who is the real enemy to her own kind.

Women should support and stand up for one another, then perhaps the crusade for justice and fairness in every aspect of life everywhere will be more meaningful and easier to achieve. So, instead of showing her fangs and bringing out her claws and morphing into a monster of untold evil and cruelty, a woman must delve deep into her core. She must show and share the qualities that will bring joy and positive change to herself and those around her especially the sisterhood whether at home, at work or with the world at large.

A woman who has the support of her family and good, positive people around her can and will conquer all that she wants.

It is indeed a hard decision and struggle for her when she has to choose between family and career. There are few who have this privilege and for them, the world is beautiful and complete. She truly blooms and those around her are blessed.

Box her in and she will retaliate and inevitably destroy not only herself but people with her.

What is the solution? Gender equality?.i hate to sound the pessimist but truth be told, there can be no true equality because women are different from men and if not for this difference, there would be an unnatural imbalance in life. It is the law of the universe to complement not control one another to continue and exist.

The solution is to not fight the 'system' but to beat it. How?

Be who you are and be the best you can be without fear. Expect respect as a human being. Be proud of being female. Pursue your dreams with passion and purpose. Speak up and stand tall in what you believe in. Follow your heart and march to your beat!.

* To all the GIRLS; young and old - Celebrate everyday.May you always bloom and spread your fragrance to bring joy, peace and freedom to youself and to those around you.
