Multi-Tasking, Multiple Personalities
A month ago, the book 'Why Men Love Bitches' by Sherry Argov was reviewed in the newspaper and a few men gave their views. It would be interesting to read this tome...i thought. However, the referral to women as bitches did not quite sit well with me.
Argov justifies by saying 'bitch' defines "... an empowered woman who derives tremendous strength from the ability to be an independent thinker, particularly in a world that still teaches women how to be self-abnegating".
i have no intention to condemn nor criticise Argov for her views especially when i have not flipped the pages of her book. What tickled me were the mens' views on strong women and characteristics that reflected strength in a woman. It ranged from having a good personality to being confident yet they unanimously expected some form of feminine qualities such as softness and gentleness as imporant attributes for a successful and lasting relationship.
In the end, i felt that a woman not only had to multi-task at home and at work but she also had to have the ability to turn into multiple personalities at the drop of a hat!. To have and sustain a happy relationship she must be strong and not spineless but she cannot be too aggresive or arrogant. Huh?
How is a woman going to gauge the degree of her strength to show?. What barometer should she refer to?. So, if a woman wants to keep her man and be in a healthy relationship, she must be in a perpetual 'identity conflict' state?
i also thought of the countless number of books on having and sustaining healthy relationships....Somehow, it is always the womens' duty largely, why?
Women are strong and it takes a real strong man - mentally and emotionally, that is to truly accept, acknowledge and appreciate such women. A strong man will know how 'draw out' her feminine side and be fearless in supporting her masculine side. Then, maybe a woman can simply be herself and bask in a healthy and happy relationship?
