Tender Loving Care Triumphs

i just came back from a short holiday and want to share a story about a cat named Jackie. He is a tom cat belonging to my brother and his family. i first saw Jackie in January last year, a frail kitten that had one injured eye and was ignored by its own mother and the rest of the litter.

My lovely fifteen year old niece was his nurse, diligently seeking him out for the  four hourly eye drop and cleaning the wound. Jackie would run and hide upon seeing her approach but she was one persistent caregiver. Jackie had only one good eye and weak but my niece never gave up on him. She lovingly administered the eyedrops, cleaned the eye area and talked to Jackie. She tirelessly told him that he was special and she loved him. She played with Jackie and continuously cuddled his tiny body, cooing encouragement and showed empathy.

Jackie is a year and a half now. He is healthy, a little chubby with beautiful striped orange fur, white stockinged front and hind paws. i was very suprised to see him. Jackie can only see with one good eye, has an even temperament that endears him to everyone, including me!. He is fastidious in grooming and what amazed me was how gentle he is while cleaning around his injured eye. My niece told me that he mimics the way she used to clean his wound. She calls Jackie; 'Baby' and dotes on him. She is very proud and protective of him. In return, Jackie adores her and anyone who sees them together will know the close bond they share. Jackie truly has flourished and doing well under the tender loving care of my niece who saw beyond a one eyed frail kitty. The whole family continue to shower him with hugs and cuddles. He literally "glows" with love and is definitely a contented cat.

Throughout my stay, i watched Jackie closely and what really touched my heart is that tender loving care can work wonders. i learnt that not giving up on someone or something you truly love produces results worth the time and effort invested. Tender loving care does triumph and i'm proud of my niece. Jackie is living proof of a compassionate and determined soul who saw beauty where others would have seen only ugliness and hopelessness.
