The Deep & Dangerous Divide In Humanitarian Efforts: An Ugly,Greedy & Self-Serving Mob

So much needs to be done, so little time, too many people need help. Millions are collected, thousands are eager to volunteer and hundreds on the ready to make a change in the lives of billions. Donations and funds don't reach in time, necessities never do...leaving so many frustrated, angered and feeling hopeless.

There are many who genuinely want to impact change and plain help yet the deep and dangerous divide in the form of red tape, internal politics, external pressure and influences from certain sources along with countless other reasons continue to exist to dampen spirits. The ones truly needing aid cannot be reached with the multitude of channels to cross and please!.

What protocol?. What rules and regulations?. Created and enforced by an ugly, greedy and self-serving mob - to serve whose purpose?. The flash of cameras and coverage by international media gives the expectants glitz and glamour while thousands perish from lack of food?. When rank and power demand attention, seek fame and glory; to what gain?. When children suffer and millions of innocents die from preventable situations?

An insane dynamic to which none's to gain. What use is a nobel idea, a plan or an intention when it's so ineffectively sanctioned, poorly deployed and inefficiently managed?. A useless endeavour when help does not reach...on time. In the name of being non profit organisations who champion humanitarian causes, profit seem all important...to most. Instead of adhering to the motto of; 'Helping All', 'Selfless Service', it's; "Will I be on CNN?". Glory and fame take precedence.

No wonder why some brave souls have gone either solo,if they have the funds or most freelance their time, energy and expertise to reach out to communities and causes. No bureaucracy, no bullshit!. Their motto?- Let me do what I do best and that could be any help ranging from teaching children in a slum area, to help build a house for a hardcore poor family, to treat the sick and maimed with no means to basic medicine, etc.

The plight list is an endless one yet organisations and corporations who pledge to help, with all their high ideals never seem to move with urgency. They remain rigidly adamant about going by the book and to what cost?. It's a vicious game, a vile cycle that leaves billions deprived of proper aid and deserved help that is urgent on one end. The other end are those ready and wanting to help despite being jaded and questioning the true meaning of humanitarian efforts. The willing are waysided and demoralised by the 'honchos' who hold power and call the shots. Will this end?. Absolutely not for power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

i write this because i'm fed up too but i do not tolerate any form of injustice and unfairness. i certainly cannot turn a blind eye nor ignore my heart's calling. i've realised that i may not be able to lend a hand in a crisis country but i sure can impact change whichever way i can where i am.i know there are many like minded people out there who continue to soldier on despite the drawbacks and despair. You may not be rewarded nor remembered but the 'glow' that comes from within, that can only come from helping another fellow human being is priceless. i believe that when you lend a helping hand, it definitely impacts change. A ripple effect hopefully to inspire someone else to reach out and help those in need, regardless of colour, culture and creed.

"It is one of the most beautiful compensations of this life that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself"- Ralph Waldo Emerson
