The Working World Sucks!

This is what my friend said and i agreed with her. Too many people are in jobs they hate and it is to feed their kids, pay bills especially the mortgage and the car...to survive really. Life's a bitch! - the working world is the worst of it and i'm sure three quarters of the people in the working world would readily agree. The remaining quarter are fortunate to be loving what they do or are loving what they do because they know who to butter up. If you can stomach it in small or big doses then the workplace won't be a hell hole. i sound extreme?.i think not.

Employers these days have unreasonable expectations and even ludicrous game plans. It no longer counts if you're plain hardworking, you also have to be hard at networking ie you must have a facebook or twitter account at the very least. Huh?. You must have a great sense of humour; [Read: To laugh uproariously at your boss's lame and often stupid jokes.] You cannot be too smart and if you speak your mind, well you just need to practise being dumb with an agreeable smile pasted on your face. Don't even think about pointing out grammar mistakes in correspondence or laughing out loud at atrocious spoken English. The mother lode has got to be your boss competing with you!...yes it has happened and will continue. i've probably missed out some misadventures from the very lengthy list but why glorify the 'villains' of the vile working world of today.

Let's take a step back in time...to our parents and grandparents time. The strongest words ever used on an employer, colleagues or the workplace ranged from; 'He is a tough man but principled','It is a difficult time for everyone,we have to be patient'. You never heard swear words and curses used like today - constantly and consistently...everyday!.

Those days people genuinely liked their jobs and enjoyed working life so much that they held onto their posts till retirement or when they passed on.They also forged lifelong friendships with their employers and colleagues. Of course, today such things happen too but few and far between and mostly if it brings some form of mutual beneficial interests and arrangement.

So,what happened?. Well, people's gross change in attitude and mindset have definitely changed the landscape of the working world today. In the name of progress, quality and integrity are severely compromised. You can no longer do good without being labelled 'artificial' and a phoney. Replacing core human values are superficial and pretentious herds who do not mind 'fitting into a prepared mould'. Advancements in technology and sped up modernity has brought about not productivity but perplexing and complex problems of every kind. Value is not placed on sound education, talent and skill but who you know and how much you are willing to pander to that person.

It certainly sucks!...for the good ones go unappreciated, unnoticed and totally disregarded. This results in extreme stress and dejection.Distressed at not even being respected and treated as should be often leads to many leaving their jobs for greener pastures or better options online thus the absence of true talent at the workplace. The irony?...outsourcing for talents from elsewhere. A joke indeed.

Those who are still in this horrid cycle have bills that can't be ignored and sustenance that must be seen to.A vicious circle....To those who have got off to strike out on their own - Bravo to you and to those who do have a  good soul as a boss - you're lucky and you better know it because for most of us still in the working world - it sucks!.
